As part of the UK Government’s efforts to improve corporate transparency and combat economic crime, Companies House is introducing mandatory identity verification for:
- Directors (and equivalents: members, general partners, managing officers)
- People with Significant Control (PSCs)
- Anyone filing on behalf of a UK company (like Company secretaries)
What you need to do:
To remain compliant, all relevant individuals must verify their identity with Companies House. Once verified, they will receive a Companies House personal code.
Key date: 18 November 2025
- Directors must include their personal code in their next confirmation statement
- PSCs will need to provide their code via a new online service
Non-compliance could result in offences or financial penalties.
